Fishing and Ice Fishing
Andover Lake offers some of the best fishing in the state of Connecticut, open year round. Just be sure to have your fishing license, and you can enjoy our no "closed season" providing great fishing opportunities from a boat or from a shore for a novice as well as the more experienced angler.
Fish species available to test the anglers skills include: Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Chain Pickerel, Black Crappie, Brown Bullhead, White Catfish, Pumpkinseed, Bluegills, Red breasted Sunfish, and Yellow Perch.
Most anglers practice "Catch and Release", thereby ensuring an excellent fishery for future generations.
Although the lake is for ALPOA members only, all State of Connecticut, Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) rules and regulations, as defined in the yearly Anglers Guide, are applicable and enforced. This includes, but is not limited to, the size and number of fish takes, as well as the need for a valid CT fishing license for anyone over 16 years of age. The Anglers Guide is distributed with the purchase of a fishing license, which can be purchased at any Town Hall's Town Clerk's office, Sports Shop or K-Mart.
